Some bright spells in July’s Business Barometer

CEMA’s July Barometer shows some bright spells in the business mood of the industry: a noticeable improvement of demand was reported for France and Italy, resulting in higher sales expectations for both markets for the months ahead.

In addition, component manufacturers expect once again orders and turnover to rise in the short term, which could be seen as an early indicator of a brighter business mood in the second half of this year.

Overall, turnover remained almost flat and order intake levels remained in the range of the past months (ca. -5%).

Demand remained weak in the Spanish and German markets. Sales expectations are also lower for Scandinavia and Romania. Market expectations for the CIS Region remain weak, and 55% of the companies expect turnover to further decline here.

The survey also shows that used equipment stock has risen in Germany, the UK and France, especially for tractors and harvesting machines.
